Meet some of the beautiful residents at Cat Tail Acres.
Kabuki
Meet the lovely Kabuki. She was found frozen to a sewer lid outside of a factory by a workman. He thought she was dead, but brought her into the factory and laid her on the floor. He went about his business and when he returned, he was surprised to discover the cat was gone. He figured the cat had run off back outdoors since the factory doors were often open. But a few days later, his sandwich disappeared from his desk! Thinking kitty may still be inside the factory, he put out food and water....sure enough, the cat was eating and drinking. But several days later, he was horrified to find a cat paw in the food bowl! Obviously, the poor cat had suffered frostbite and lost a paw. And though he never saw the grey cat, he gave it food and water every day.
Eventually the factory was scheduled to be closed. The kind workman was worried about what to do with the cat, when he learned about Cat Tail Acres Sanctuary and reached out for help. With the use of a humane trap, he was able to deliver the cat to us.
When we took the kitty to our vet, we learned Kabuki was a female, and were amazed she had avoided having any litters since she was not spayed. She must have known she was safest staying near the factory after her terrible ordeal. “Kabuki” adores the other cats at the sanctuary, but is still shy around people. Nonetheless, we love her and take good care of her, and are very thankful that she is safe, healthy, and happy. For us, stories like Kabuki’s are the reason for our very existence.

Smokey
Smokey was rescued when he was just a kitten. Volunteers from Cat Tail Acres gathered traps and rescued not only Smokey (who was living under a porch), but also a mom cat and two other kittens. Smokey is no longer a kitten but you can see by his picture that he is absolutely loving his new home at the sanctuary!
Octavious
Octavious was rescued from a trailer park abandoned As much as anything, it is less about these cats than it is about us. To know one more cat will be protected, that from this hopefully expanding population at Cat Tail Acres, there will be no more unwanted kittens, no more untreated disease.
Snowshoe
Snowshoe was found eating out of a dumpster; very friendly. There are estimated to be more than 5 million homeless cats in the United States.
